Cloud/Sephiroth - Closeups + Process

As you might notice in the timelapse, I STRUGGLED with Cloud's face, I think it took like 15% of the total time for the whole piece to get right, but I think it was worth it!

This was one of those pieces though that I somehow managed to nail from the sketch phase and then  it was just a matter of cleaning it up! Still experimenting with the way I render thin...

Cloud/Sephiroth - Another Hallucination?

As voted by my Twitter followers to celebrate breaking past 5k! Though I do now realise I'm a thousand late 😅

I'm still silly proud of how good I made Sephiroth's cake look, but boy, was Cloud's face a real pain. I think I might try to give this face angle a rest for a bit just to give myself a reprieve!

Update - 5.7.22

Finally, after much trial and tribulation, I'm happy with Cloud's face... I swear, once I'm comfortable drawing faces in this angle, it'll be over for you all!

Also... I'm stupid attracted to the way I've drawn Sephiroth's back 😳 well done me.

Meg/Zag/Than - Process + Closeups

This one felt like a bit of a marathon tbh and I'm glad it's over but at the same time I'm super happy with how it came out. Ngl I'm stupid proud of how I rendered Meg's abs and Than's right hand 😊

I think 80% of my time spent on this was spent on drawing, thanks to a whole week where I was so sleep deprived I forgot how to draw 😩

Meg/Zag/Than - Pact of Punishment

OMG it's finally done!!! Imma cry 😭 for some reason, this one really took me forever to be happy with it! I'm so happy I stuck with it because Zag's face is one of my best yet and I'm also super proud of the rendering, especially Than's hand and Meg's GODLY abs.

Just another little update for you lovelies on this piece, hoping to have it done soon though it has proven to be a way more technically challenging piece than I anticipated, and I want to try a few new things with my lighting process that will hopefully add further depth to my pieces!

After a lot of frustration, I've finally made a breakthrough with this piece... it's take some time but I'm finally happy with the direction I'm taking with this. I'm sure those of you who have access to my timelapses will notice that this has gone a few big changes from the start, the only thing that's relatively been the same is Meg.

Bit of a small update this week, sorry lovelies. Been a really low week for me in terms of focus and feeling good about my art, and so I haven't been able to get anywhere close to where I wanna be with these drawings. Though I'm happy with the mood and dynamics of these pieces so far, I hope that next week I can come back at them with fresh eyes and better sleep!

Ann/Ryuji - Sloppy + Closeups + Process

Ryuji's face made me cry a little but otherwise, I had a ton of fun with this one. The main difficulty was retaining focus and cohesion throughout all of the angles. Will definitely be doing more of these in the future!

Akiren was late coming back to Tokyo and Ann really couldn't wait to show off some of the new skills she'd picked up in her time away.

Gotta say, as daunting as this first felt, I really want to make more pages like this in the future. It really allowed me to explore the scene more and add details that would be otherwise hidden!

All caught up on my comms, so now I have some time to concentrate on art for you lovelies and my personal project! Ganon/Link - closeups + timelapse

Really pleasantly surprised I managed to get the movement of the original sketch into the final piece, I was worried I'd lose it all with the lineart stage and colouring, but I think I managed to keep it!

Update - 24.5.22

Got a double drop for you lovelies today!

Not gonna lie, I only feel a little sorry for Link, this has been a really fun drawing so far, but by the triforce, Link's face was an absolute nightmare to get right and I think I had at least 3 breakdowns. Otherwise, I'm really happy that I managed to capture the movement and energy of the initial sketch!

Kinda a big update to share with you lovelies today, lots of in-progress stuff I've been working on this week! Been slowly chipping away at the Link/Ganon piece. As always the pretty boys' face gave me hella grief and then in contrast I managed to smash out Ganon's face within an hour 😅

Riza/Roy - Closeups + Process

Really need to work on streamlining my drawing process, it takes well over 60% of my time but I think that's down to mostly how long it takes for me to be happy with the faces.  Been experimenting with different grades of rendering, trying to find the happy place between airbrushing and cell shading.

Whoever decided they should have had the beds in the same room was obviously a fool if they thought they'd be resting.

Here's another lil update of the Riza/Roy piece I've been working on! It's nearly there at this point, just the bounce light, the background shading, and minor details like sweat and other fluids left to do! Been really enjoying these pieces with backgrounds, tho they almost triple my workload it just makes everything that much more powerful as it gives the action context.

This one took longer than expected, Lulu's face gave me some grief and the clothing details slowed me down a lot. Had loads of fun though and I spent a bit more time rendering, trying to figure out a good balance between cell shading and a more painterly render.<...
