Some audio issues, not from our mic but from our recording of the game itself. Not sure what happened.

Tien and vegeta did not train in the manga or anime this is only a kakarot thing. During this time of the show no one liked Vegeta so they kept their distance. Especially people like Tien becuz Nappa killed chiatzu & Tien kept that grudge for a long time.

I recommend finishing the history of trunks DLC before continuing the story π

in my humble opinion this is the best saga of "Dragon ball z" the writing was done so well & every character no matter how weak they were played a major role, especially in the anime/manga. This game can skip over some important moments but overall it gives me such nostalgia <3

Damn it, I wish they kept Piccolo's "Post Boy" outfit for the driving part. In the driving filler episode that the mini game is based on, Chi Chi made him wear some of Goku's old clothes. Look it up if you want. Piccolo rocks just about any outfit that isn't his usual demon clan gi.

BTW King Kai's monkey Bubbles was likely named after Michael Jackson's pet chimpanzee of the same name.

Someone already mentioned, but yeah that driving mission was based on a filler episode (in the original anime, not Kai), which is interesting the game decided to add that mission.
The anime (not Kai) had it separated to βTrunks Arc,β which was 8 episodes and only 4 of those involved Trunks, I believe. That explains the break before the Android saga. After this though, the story picks up π₯π₯π₯

Yeah I remember Toriyamaβs editor complaining about Cell being too creepy and wanted to give him transformations. At the time Toriyama was into horror (and the Terminator movies), which explains Cellβs initial intimidation

Yes, in the early dub days, but now thereβs TONS of variety. And also Oda, creator of One Piece, chose the VAs himself for the main cast, so the lack of variety there was intentional

HFIL is "Home For Infinite Losers", basically the censored version of Hell.

That driving mission is based on a DBZ episode where Chi-Chi has Goku & Piccolo go to get their driving licenses, and then it's followed by typical Dragon Ball shenanigans. TFS cut to it:
When Goku is singing "I'm on the highway to HFIL!" π€£π€£π

I think other YT comments have mentioned it before, but now that it's more relevant I'll put it in a little more detail. The Cell Saga changes villains so much because Toriyama's editor didn't like their concepts/designs as those belonging to the main villains. If I'm not misremembering, his reasoning basically boiled down to the following:
Androids 19 & 20 - Unimpressive. Just an old man and a fat mime looking guy.
Androids 18 & 20 - Unimpressive. Two regular teenagers.
Cell (First Form) - He was ugly. Yes, seriously.
Cell (Second Form) - His face made him look like an idiot.
Perfect Cell - No problems, I guess, since that's what they ended on.
It's no wonder Toriyama would constantly make fun of his editors in his work. I'd be rather annoyed too with rationale like this.

While the Android and Cell Sagas are usually considered to be separate by, I guess the devs just wanted to call it the "Android Saga" because Cell is a "type" of android. Since he's man-made, some material refers to him as a "bio-android". It's kind of like the Namek/Frieza Saga going by interchanging names. One considers the arc in general while the other just focuses on the "main" villain.

Bethany is correct in separating cell from the android saga. The series goes like this usually
saiyan saga, namek saga, android saga, cell saga, majin buu saga. occasionally frieza saga is used after namek too

I think the lack of VA variety is the biggest anime dub weakness tbh

While there are some moments that Kakarot either cuts out/shortens I find what they did with Trunks and King Cold rather funny. In the original, they had this whole exchange of King Cold getting Trunks to let him borrow his sword just to admire it. Trunks easily stops King Cold and then eliminates him and Frieza's ship. In this he just offs Cold and the ship immediately. Kinda adds to the scenes purpose of leaving the impression that Trunks doesn't fuck around, so I don't mind the change.

and Krillin is Bardock. Also, I havenβt gotten to that part yet, but itβs funny that they apparently made a VA connection that wasnβt correct lol. Iβm always waiting for reactors to pick up on VAβs from other series they watch. It may be the Superman effect for people lol.

Iβve told them about the one piece similarities before. All the main ones. It was what got me into one piece. You forgot Luffy, (spoilers, sort of) Chopper, Franky, and Brook.

Trunks is voiced by Eric Vale, and while I see where youβre coming from, he does not voice Krillin. That would be Sonny Straight. Fun fact, in the one piece English dub, they voice Sanji and Usopp respectively, with Zoro being voiced by Chris sabat( Vegeta and Piccolo)
