This has been recommended as the movie to start off my horror/thriller/zombie journey without me needing to sleep with the light on π₯Ίπ« π
Iβve also been recommended I am Legend as a βzombie-ishβ movie and it has a German Shepherd on the cover so whatβs not to like about thatβ¦ might have to get that watched too!
After which - Iβll be watching Alien and The Exorcist bc apparently I hate myself xoxo
More Breaking Bad over on YouTube Tonight at 7pm! π plenty of movies in the pipeline for this year but Iβm SO EXCITED for the next seasons of HOTD and The Boys π€©

Zombieland is a fun ride, almost on par with Shaun of the Dead β€οΈ So a good start ^^ Alien its a must π€ Like the Thing, Hellraiser and Event Horizon(which you smartly avoids for the timeπ), it set the standard for scary in its subchangre ^^

There is room for that kind of reaction.

It's a fun film anyway, but it also doesn't need you to know your horror movie history to get the best out of it - a lot of modern movies contain knowing references to earlier 'classic' horror films. If you do intend to do more horror reactions going forward (and why wouldn't you?π), it's worth looking at some of the films that started tropes or introduced horror icons including (in no particular order): Night of the Living Dead Texas Chainsaw Massacre Halloween Friday the 13th The Evil Dead Nightmare on Elm Street They're not necessarily always the best, but you'll love it when you see the references to them later π (As a side-note, Scary Movie was mostly a parody of Scream, which was in itself a deconstruction of horror tropes. Or something.)
