Personally, I would rather die with my memories intact for the most part than to ever get a surgery that would let me live, but I would forget. I also HATED the fact that he found some magic miracle surgery in the first place. I don't like when shows and movies give a death sentence and then suddenly give them a magic chance. Probably why Goblin hold a high standard for me, still gave a happy ending without her escaping fate at the same time. Or Revenant where they kept that she was going to lose her eyesight no matter what since it was genetic and there was no foreseeable cure.
