POLL - Update ASAP or Update when ready?

Hey there everybody.

Now, this is one of those big existential questions I need to ask to EVERYBODY, not just the free followers or the supporters in Tiers. It's a very simple question.

Update as soon as possible:

Do you think I should release the first update of Dating Elena as soon as possible (meaning that I would prioritize having a working update, with NSFW FMG sequences composed of placeholder still-images instead of animations, and I would release a second update soon after to replace the still-images with the animations.

Pros: faster content for you guys to play/test, less time to wait.
Cons: work-in-progress vibe, need to re-download the game soon after when the second update is done.

Update when ready:

Or do you think I should stay on target and work towards releasing a full update with all the planned animations.

Pros: less versions to download, but what you'll play (from that point on) will most likely be final.
Cons: More time to wait until the work is done.

For the record, in case you haven't been following, the first update for Dating Elena is planned to include a new prologue-chapter (3 characters, 2 dialogue sequences and more) + complete rework of Chapter 1 (entirely re-written dialogue with Elena, re-made art-assets and NSFW FMG animations).

Comments

I get your POV, but it's a risky gamble to assume what all the other poll-takers think, to assume they all likely agree with you, when your entire livelihood hinges on that assumption. Fair point, I could've made more options to the poll above. I would do another poll, but again, do people want to vote on polls constantly? I might as well make a proper survey outside of Patreon and send it out to people on Itch.io. I'm not even sure how people are notified of posts on Itch.io, if it feels better or worse than notifications on Patreon?

The first update will be freely available to anyone who already has a game-key of the game on itch.io. This includes everybody who bought the game on itch.io and everybody who even once subbed on my Patreon at least at the Gremlin Tier. If I make all of my work free, my finances would be even more dependant of generous people willing to support on Patreon. I'm getting too many weekly membership cancellations to be comfortable with the risk of entirely cutting the Itch.io income on such a HUGE gamble. I will make a free demo at some point, but I think it should not include the full Chapter 1 animation. Otherwise, I'd essentially be fucking over the people who already bought the initial release of the game, telling them they could've just waited for the thing to become free.

Will the first new update be free or only partrons I think released free the first update will help get people in following and support the project

Your fear about alienating players because of having to download multiple times is complete nonsense! I did vote full update, because I don't want you to rush yourself into burnout. And I'm pretty sure most guys who voted full update did so for the same reason. If you were to release a "beta" version, I would eat that shit up, just as much as anyone else would! You could do a more detailed pole, if you want to be sure. For example: -ASAP, I need my fix! -I don't want to wait a lot longer! -I'll wait until it's all done. Don't want to download new versions all the time! -Take your time make it perfect!
