Its a bit late, but here it is!! ;A;
STEP 1: LINEART
Ok, first of, I have no idea why I could not find the sketch of this. I think it got lost in space ;A;
I got this idea when I was watching Macross Zero with my boyfriend a while ago.

STEP 2: COLORING
Here I was trying to choose the colors for Ryoshi's plane.

STEP 3: SHADING
I always start with basic shading to give myself an idea of where the source of the lighting will be.

STEP 4: MORE SHADING DETAILS
Some extra background lighting for the shading, its always good!

STEP 5: MORE SHADING DETAILS AND BACKGROUND
Some people start their drawings with background, others prefer to leave it for the end of the drawing.
In my personal experience, I tend to sketch the idea, ink, color and add a little bit of shading, and THEN I start with the background, it actually depends on my mood or my idea. If my idea is clear, I tend to do this, but if I'm not sure how the background is going to be, I start working on the background first (AFTER the sketch, of course).

STEP 6: BACKGROUND DETAILS
Here I added more clouds and objects on the scene.

STEP 7: LIGHTING DETAILS
Here I started to add more lighting on the characters and background.

STEP 8: MORE LIGHTING DETAILS

STEP 9: AMBIENT LIGHTING
"ambient lighting" is a complete made up name I made, I'm not sure if it actually exists, BUT it explains what Im trying to show you guys here.
I added ambient lighting so the background (plane, and Ryoshi) has more perspective from the viewer.

STEP 10: FINISHED!
After a few more details on the background and some dialogue, the drawing is finished!

I really hope it helped you guys! ;; please stay safe!
ALSO! Monthly PSD file coming soon~
