Hua Yong wrote it BEFORE he went to X hotel (I still dont understand why they chose to show that scene with the mark on Hua Yongโs neck. It made the timeline so confusing). So no, he didnโt write the letter because heโs guilty or felt bad, the whole โIm sacrificing myself for youโ is just a convenient excuse for why heโs gone for a few days (while in reality, heโs in rut and spending it locked and chained up in X hotel).

It was explained much more thoroughly in the novel but basically, the reason he keeps chaining himself up during every single one of his ruts (and in the novel, modified the room so even an enigma with insane strength like him cant go out) is because he has a condition called mate-seeking syndrome which means he cannot control himself around Shaoyou whenever heโs in rut. This is also why he kept making excuses to leave Shaoyou whenever heโs in rut. Hua Yong did NOT want their first time to be like this, but his instincts won in that moment, unfortunately.
